Speech therapy is the assessment and treatment of communication problems and speech disorders. It is performed by speech-language pathologists (SLPs), which are often referred to as speech therapists. SLPs are trained to identify and address a wide range of communication disorders, including:
Articulation disorders, such as difficulty producing certain sounds
Language disorders, such as difficulty understanding or using language
Fluency disorders, such as stuttering
Voice disorders, such as hoarseness or weakness
Swallowing disorders
